Well, it's not really Magma .... but sounds pretty decent to my ears!
This blog celebrates the music of Magma and its founder, Christian Vander. Magma is the father of a genre of music called "Zeuhl". This blog will contain commentary, links, videos, and perhaps some live music.

Magma 1977 - Eurock 7 and 8
This is the front and back cover from Eurock issues 7 and 8. Thanks to Monschau for the images.
From Monschau's own words:
Seeing that you've been posting much in the way of Magma paper I thought I'd forward the attached to you. They consist of the front & back covers from Eurock Magazine's March 1977 issue. Archie Patterson, the founder & publisher has been a big supporter of Magma & is still going strong today at http://www.eurock.com/. (He gave Christian & Stella a copy of the mag when Magma played in San Francisco for Progfest in 1999.)

To celebrate the upcoming RIO Festival in Carmaux, your friend at Magmasystems is pleased to share the best bootleg of Present that I have ever heard.
This is from a DAT soundboard recording, and the sound is A+.
I received the CDR from a very devoted Univers Zero/Present fan several years ago, and I am grateful to him for sharing it with me.
Daniel Denis' drumming is off the charts in this recording.
Please support the music of Univers Zero and Present.

Review of Magma at Newport Jazz Festival, 1973
This is the New York Times review of the concert that Magma played at when they played the Newport Jazz Festival in New York on July 7, 1973. The Times does not say much about the music, except for the fact that Magma "did not make it easy" on people.

Henri Gougaud - Chansons Pour La Ville
This is an album from 1973 by poet/singer Henri Gougaud. Three of the tracks feature Magma members Jannick Top, Teddy Lasry, and Claude Olmos (along with contributions from French jazz drummer Bernard Lubat).
The song Les Tout Gris sounds to me like it was inspriation for Top's later composition, Ork Alarm ... or maybe it was Top that inspired Gougaud. All three songs have elements that would eventually find their ways into subsequent Top pieces.
The three songs can be found here.

Magma 1973 - Group Photo
This is the famous band photo of Magma that was taken in London (I think) in 1973. I first saw this photo when it accompanied the full-page advertisement that A&M Records placed in Melody Maker magazine in 1974.
When I saw the picture of Jannick Top in this photo, I was actually terrified! It was years before I realized that he was wearing spectacles. I thought that there was something wrong with his eyes, and that contributed even more to the mysticism of Magma.
