Here is the last show of a 4-night stand that Magma has at The Alhambra in Paris. Thanks to the taper and sharer, metro_cubo.
LDB Master Series #220
Hello, this is a collection of masters I would like to seed here. I've been taping shows for more than 20 years and have an awful lot of masters. Most of them are in the old cassette format, some others are on MiniDisc and others are on CD. I've taped many shows of many artists over the years, so don't be surprised if you will find many different artists taped! Some shows are already circulating, some others have not circulated through collectors yet. But most of all, enjoy! They all come from my master tapes!

Since 1990 (when I saw the band for the first time at La Cigale in Paris) I must have seen the band
no less than ten times. Some shows I liked, some other did not at all. But this one, which closed
Magma's 4-days residency at Alhambra was probably among the best, that's why I decided to seed this
show. Part of this was the excellent little tiny venue called Alhambra which is rapidly becoming my
favourite venue in town: great sound, great seats, great look from every part of it, all in an
extremely intimate atmosphere. In that way, I was able to appreciate the full potential of the band.
And the band itself is reaching one of their peaks of their career, which is quite reassuring if you
think that they are celebrating their 40 years. The new pieces - yet unfinished and unreleased - Slag
Tanz and Felicité Thosz do show that this band is still able to produce masterpieces. Of course you
need to like Magma's music. I was once again impressed by Stella's powerful and gentle singing, much
more than Vander's drumming. But the whole band was in a state of grace: the set-list seems now well
rehearsed and at its peak. Not to mention the (now complete) Ëmëhntëht-Rê suite for which we've been
listening to extracts here and there for the last 30 years. The last encore was a complete surprise:
Stella introduced a choir formed by their friends and collaborators (included Stella and Christian's
daughter) that has accompanied the band in a nice and simple gospel ("to demonstrate that Magma music
is nothing but difficult").
So enjoy this nice show. I did enjoy it very very much.

yes the show was fantastic. i can't download that have you another link?
ReplyDeletethank you
The link does work. But you need to be registered on DIME to download it. Try to register for membership on DIME ... it's free.
ReplyDeletethanks Marc, I was at the concert and it was indeed fabulous. it seems like Dime have erased my account and no slots are available for sign-up... can someone please upload the show on rapidshare or megaupload?
ReplyDeleteAlexandru,
ReplyDeleteI don't feel comfortable taking someone else's recording and putting it on Rapidshare. In general, I don't put concerts on Rapidshare. But, I will leave a note for the guy who recorded this on DIME and see if he will put something on one of the file-sharing services. If he does, then I will provide the link.
Thanks Marc. I wasn't addressing you, as you're only the messenger here :) I was hoping one of the beneficiaries will be so kind as to help spread the recording...
ReplyDeleteI also would be thankful to anyne who could share this other than Dime. I haven't been able to access it and don't have hours to try.
ReplyDeleteSame for me... and I have been trying for hours. I would love to have it since I was at the show, and it indeed was extremely good. Please spread this recording. Thanks a lot!
ReplyDeleteI can access it but have no clue how to download it. It is the first time I have been given access, but as a novice, I am not sure how to get the actual music. I just get a file that does nothing.
ReplyDeleteThere should be a tutorial and a FAQ on the DIME site. Basically, you need to download Torrent software, such as uTorrent.

ReplyDeleteHow stupid to circulate this show in mp3...
ReplyDeleteYou could at least have asked the guy from dime.
flac or mp3 ..... always the same and ridiculous question!!!
ReplyDeletewhat is the most important: the music or how the sound quality is?
for me it's the music ...only the music!!!
I apologize to metro _cubo on DIME :-(
ReplyDeleteI only wanted to share quickly to few friends this great moment of pleasure was this concert.
now download link had been erased and this file no longer exists.
Barfix,
ReplyDeletePlease don't blame yourself. Metro_cube said that you *could* share with people, but only if you kept the original FLAC format. We have to respect his wishes. Thanks so much for sharing with everyone.

"flac or mp3 ..... always the same and ridiculous question!!!"
ReplyDeleteIf I had not recorded that show and shared it (while I can be happy to keep it for my own enjoyment), you wouldn't even have the problem of mp3 or flac.
think about this...
